University of York – Archaeology Garden in Second Life

Following a collaboration with Kriss Fearon (University of York web team) Vector76 recently completed work on the University of  York’s Archaeology Garden. The garden features various classic architectural elements used throughout the ages. The Norman, Gothic and Tudor structures where built in Second Life to help archaeology students in visualizing these classic forms.

“The garden looks great. I had a feeling it would be hard to translate
into SL and Vector76  certainly had their work cut out, but did good
work, so I’m pleased.

Little Boots
Evolution festival LIVE virtual  gig
Our second mixed-reality event featured a brilliant virtual gig live from the NewcastleGateshead Evolution Festival. The 45 minute live audio  set was streamed into our virtual Baltic Square complete with avatars portraying Little Boots  - simultaneously - as they  played the Spillers Wharf stage.  The virtual event went down  a storm in Second Life with fans of the band teleporting in from all over the world (including visitors from Victoria Heskiths home town of Blackpool!).

Vector76 have developed virtual NewcastleGateshead in SL because we’re passionate about the diverse, dynamic and creative spirit of the city, and aim to raise the profile of NewcastleGateshead within virtual worlds like Second Life along with promoting the very best that the great North East of England has to offer in tourism, business, education, culture and leisure.

NewcastleGateshead SL is the first of a series of virtual islands that Vector76 are developing. Over the coming months we will be adding to the quayside across both sides of Newcastle city centre and of course Gateshead.

Vector76 welcome input, collaboration and partnerships with others involved in the development and on-going success of the North East.
